This might just be the most honest and authentic thing I've ever spilled onto the internet, but here we go. Please, proceed with extreme caution.
They always tell you not to mix business with love. And if you know me at all, then you know my life's mission is to prove everyone wrong. Besides, I've learned that honesty & integrity should be the bedrock of everything in life, especially in business. So, here’s the unvarnished truth :
This is Zach.
Zach is my partner. In business, in boredom, in travel, in trouble, in life, in love, in creation, and yes, even in crime ;)
Our story isn’t your typical "how we met" tale. He quite literally came into my life because a strange series of dreams that led him to my exact location, while I was, shall we say, running from my societal responsibilities in the jungle of Costa Rica. (It’s a long, mystical saga, and frankly, he tells it with far more grace than I ever could, so I'll let him tell you that story another time.)
He left a successful career as a principal of an elite school in San Francisco to throw caution to the wind and travel the world with me. Our shared goal? To let our minds breathe after the soul-sucking corporate grind of California, to reconnect with the nurturing embrace of Mother Nature, and to find a new path. And now, after months of silence, introspection, and deep inner work, he's here to help me bring my creative studio concept into this world with an official, legal structure that I, alone, could never have even dreamed of creating.
He makes everything you see me create possible.
He’s the one who forces me to actually adhere to schedules and timelines, ensuring I never disappoint my collaborators (a feat I spectacularly fail at when left to my own devices).
He grounds me. He inspires me. He motivates me.
And he holds space for difficulty, for pain, and even for death with a level of care unlike anything I’ve ever witnessed a human be capable of. Collaborating with him as a partner is nothing short of the dream I’ve prayed for my entire life.
He is both a co-equal and at the same time, my perfect polar opposite co-creator, balancing me flawlessly.
His strengths compliment my weaknesses and vice versa. And for all you astrology girlies out there, he is quite literally the polarizing Aries Sun and Libra Moon to my own bi-polar ass Libra Sun and Aries Moon. So you know the balance está buenísimo.
He invited me to Peru to quite literally birth this business among the Apus, the great mountain gods of the Andes, where we live together now in the Sacred Valley of the Inca Empire. And I would be lying if I said their presence hasn't strengthened, grounded, empowered and inspired me beyond my wildest imagination.
This month, we've also officially opened an office along the coast in the desert capital of Lima,Peru, in direct collaboration with the exploding artistic community here. More on that soon.
For now, we'll be splitting our time between the mountains and the sea, the silence and the vibrant city, as we continue to build this studio. Believe me, the best is truly yet to come.
